Courtney is a New Forest artist who creates mainly fantasy paintings. She has a deep fascination for myth, nature, and imagination. Her work blends the magic of storytelling with the timeless beauty of the New Forest, creating paintings that feel both grounded in place and touched by something other-worldly.
Early Life
Janet was born in 1951 and educated at Barton Peveril Grammar School, Eastleigh, Hampshire. She had a career in science for 13 years, for the most part in biological research. In 1983 she decided to give this up and pursue her interest in painting.
Specialism
Janet now specialises in painting small pictures and miniatures in acrylics and watercolours that are subtly detailed with a realistic atmospheric quality.
Experimenting
More recently she has started to experiment with painting in oils and mixed media. She has been exhibiting her work locally for over 30 years, both in galleries and with groups of artists including the “Woodlanders”, “New Forest Painters” and “Look Twice” artists.
Exhibitions
Her work has been accepted for open exhibitions at the Red House Museum, Christchurch, the New Forest Visitors Centre, Lyndhurst and the Royal Society of Miniature Painters Sculptors and Gravers annual exhibition at the Mall galleries, London.
